1. What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files that websites send to the user’s browser (i.e., the program used to browse, such as Chrome, Firefox, Safari, etc.) and are stored on the user’s device (computer, smartphone, tablet). This information is then automatically sent back to the site’s server at each subsequent access, allowing it to “recognize” the user and remember certain preferences or settings. In practice, a cookie allows the website to remember the user’s actions and preferences over time (such as login, language, shopping cart contents) . Cookies can have different purposes and characteristics: some are essential for the technical operation of the site, others are used to improve the browsing experience, and still others are used to collect statistics or to propose personalized content. In the following, we will explain which categories of cookies we use on guruofficialbrand.com and for what purposes.

2. Types of cookies used

On our Site we use both first-party cookies (sent from the guruofficialbrand.com domain) and both third-party cookies (sent from external domains linked to services we use). The cookies present can be divided according to their function into the following main categories:

  • Technical cookies (necessary): are cookies that are essential for the proper functioning of the Site and to take advantage of its core functionality. Without these cookies, some core services (such as adding products to the shopping cart, saving products to the wishlist, managing login or stable browsing) could not be provided properly. For example, we use technical cookies to keep the user’s session open (avoiding the need to log in on every page) and to remember any preferences that have been set (e.g., the language chosen). These cookies do not require consent, as they are strictly necessary .

  • Functional cookies: are similar to technical cookies and are used to provide advanced functionality and personalization to the user, enhancing the experience on the Site. For example, they might store additional preferences indicated by the user (such as display settings, region of origin, etc.) or provide requested functionality (such as video playback, live chat support, etc.). These cookies, if they are used exclusively to deliver a service explicitly requested by the user, also do not require consent. Disabling them may affect some non-essential but useful functionality.

  • Analytical (statistics) cookies: these cookies collect information about how users use our Site, for the purpose of performing aggregate statistical analysis. For example, they allow us to understand which pages are most visited, how long users stay on the Site, which navigation paths they follow, whether errors occur, etc. . The data collected by these cookies do not directly identify the user, but they help us improve the performance of the Site and the services we offer. On our Site, analytical cookies may be from third parties (for example, provided by Google Analytics or similar services). Where possible, we use tools that anonymize the user’s IP and take measures to reduce the identifying power of these cookies. According to current regulations, analytics cookies equated to technical (i.e., anonymized and used for aggregate statistics) can be installed without consent. If, on the other hand, we use analytics cookies that are not anonymized, your consent will be requested via the initial banner.

  • Social media cookies: Social media plugins or buttons may be integrated on the Site (e.g., Facebook “Like” button, Pinterest “Pin” button, or Instagram feed, etc.). These elements may involve the installation of cookies by the social platforms involved in order to recognize you on that social (if you have an active account) and allow you, for example, to like or share our products. They are also called social cookies and are used to provide social functionality on the Site . The use of such cookies implies the transmission of data to third parties (the social platforms) and may involve user tracking activities; therefore, they are installed only if the user gives consent through the cookie banner or through the browser settings. By disabling these cookies, social features on the Site may be limited.

  • Advertising and profiling cookies: these are cookies used to track the user’s web browsing and create profiles on their preferences, habits or choices. Their purpose is to show targeted advertisements (so-called interest-based advertising) to you, both on our Site and in different contexts relevant to your interests. For example, we may use cookies (including third-party cookies such as Google, Facebook Ads, etc.) that record the user’s visit to our Site and interactions with our products, and then propose GURU banner ads on other sites(retargeting). These cookies collect information such as pages visited, products viewed or purchased, interactions with our marketing campaigns, and combine it with other data (e.g. browsing on other sites) to infer commercial preferences. Profiling cookies are only activated with the user’s prior consent, given via the banner. The user can revoke this consent at any time (e.g. by changing preferences in the Privacy Center or in the cookie settings of the browser). Disabling these cookies does not affect the ability to browse the Site, but will result in the display of generic rather than personalized advertisements. We point out that some third parties that may install marketing cookies through our Site (such as advertising circuits) adhere to self-regulatory programs that allow users to exercise a blanket opt-out from tracking (see “How to manage cookies” section below).

  • Affiliate cookies: We may join affiliate programs, which means that if you are redirected to our Site through an affiliate link posted on a partner site, a cookie may be set to track the origin of the visit and recognize the partner a possible commission. These cookies track the referral (affiliate ID) and do not contain any personal information about the buyer. They are temporary in duration and are installed only if you arrive at our Site through certain external promotional links.

Duration of cookies: Cookies can remain on the user’s device for different periods of time. They are distinguished into: cookies of session, which are automatically deleted when the browser is closed, and cookies persistent, which remain stored until their preset expiration date (this can be days, months or even years) or until the user deletes them manually. In the table below (if provided) we list the cookies used, distinguishing between first and third parties, purposes, and their duration.

(A specific cookie list table might follow here – optional depending on the choice of manager, or a reference to the cookie manager if there is one.)

3. Management of cookies by the user

When you visit our Site for the first time, an information banner that allows you to accept all cookies or choose in detail which categories to consent to (except for necessary technical cookies, which are enabled by default). You can change your initial choice at any time: for example, if you wish to revoke a given consent, you can delete cookies from your browser and review your settings (on your next visit the banner will reappear). Alternatively, a “privacy preference center” or button (e.g., “Manage Cookies”) may be available on the Site through which you can update your consent to the various categories of cookies at any time.

In any case, you also have full discretion to manage cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to: check which cookies are installed, delete them individually or all together, block or allow cookies from all sites or only specific ones. You can find information on how to manage cookies for popular browsers at the following links: Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge (or others if you use different browsers). Alternatively, you can visit the informational site aboutcookies.org which offers clear explanations on how to control cookies for many common browsers .

Please be aware that disabling technical or functional cookies may affect the proper functioning of the Site and, in particular, you may not be able to use essential services (e.g., adding products to your shopping cart or logging in). Removing analytical and marketing cookies, on the other hand, will not affect basic functionality, but may limit our ability to improve your user experience and offer you personalized content.

For third-party cookies used for advertising purposes, in addition to the ability to revoke consent via our Site or block them via your browser, you can take advantage of some solutions made available industry-wide. For example, users residing in the EU can visit Your Online Choices to disable the receipt of profiling cookies from major advertising companies. Similar functionality for U.S. users is offered at optout.aboutads.info. These tools allow you to see the list of ad networks that may have installed targeting cookies and select those to disable. Remember, however, that even if you opt out, you will continue to see non-personalized ads.

4. Third-party cookies

Cookies operated by third parties may be installed through our Site. In particular, we make use of:

  • Web analytics tools (third party): e.g. Google Analytics. These services set their own cookies to collect information (potentially even abroad, e.g., in the US) about how visitors interact with the site. We have configured these services to at least partially mask IPs (IP anonymization in Google Analytics) and not cross-reference the collected data with other data held by the third party. Information generated by cookies about Site usage (including shortened IPs) is transmitted to the servers of the service provider. The data is used for the purpose of compiling aggregate reports on Site activity. You can disable Google Analytics by installing the opt-out component provided by Google (see tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout).

  • Social media cookies: Our Site may have integrations with social networks such as Facebook, Instagram or Twitter (e.g. “Share” buttons or social widgets). These platforms may use cookies to identify you and collect information about your browsing when you visit our Site. The use of such cookies is governed by the policies of the respective platforms (e.g., Facebook Cookie Policy, Instagram Data Policy). If you do not want socials to collect data via these cookies, you can log out of your social accounts before browsing our Site and/or block their scripts from running via your browser settings or appropriate plugins.

  • Advertising/retargeting cookies: we may use advertising partners (such as Google Ads, Facebook Ads, etc.) that set cookies to later show you personalized ads. These cookies allow us to offer you messages in line with the preferences you expressed while browsing. For more information and to manage consent, you can consult the sites of the individual providers. For example, for Google: Ads Settings and related privacy policy; for Facebook: Facebook Ads Preferences and Facebook Cookie Policy.

(The section could be supplemented with the specific list of third-party cookies actually in use, each with links to the notice and opt-out methods offered by the third party.)

5. Updates to the Cookie Policy

We may make changes to this Cookie Policy in order to reflect any changes in the technologies used or for other operational, legal or regulatory reasons. If the changes are significant, we will notify users by means of a notice on the Site or through other appropriate means. The updated version of the Cookie Policy will always be available on this page, indicating the date it was last updated. We encourage you to review it periodically.

For more information about how we process your personal data, you can also refer to our Privacy Policy. If you have any questions or requests regarding the use of cookies on our Site, please feel free to contact us at ghep@ghep.mc.
